The Time Keepers - The Goddess, Gemini

This is the final member of The Time Keepers, but she is actually two people and thus the reason she is referred to as Gemini. The first is the original owner of the body, Winifred Berkle, more commonly known as Fred. The second is the soul of an ancient goddess known as Illyria. Both Fred and Illyria are characters from the TV series called Angel, a spin off from Buffy, the Vampire Slayer. The irony is that the spin off was better than the original in my opinion. Now for the introduction.

Third Oracle of the Time Keepers, the Fate of the Present, the Goddess of Time. Gemini of the Prism Guard and she is her Watcher.

Yep, she is pretty badass in the show and unintentionally funny sometimes. Originally I had named her Illyria but decided to change it to Gemini due to the original owner of the body whose soul was reformed by Her Ladyship. As of now, Illyria's counterpart doesn't have a set introduction, but does have dealings with the Librarians, the Science and Medical Corps, and most of the educational divisions like The Academy.

The second soul contained within, Winifred Berkle.

The majority of their shared story is within the tv series called Angel, but deviates near the end when Wesley was fatally injured. Illyria, at this time, had grown to care for Wesley and these feelings combined with remnants of Fred's love for him drove the ancient one to do something drastic.

She used her limited power over time, since the majority of that power was siphoned off to save her life, to open a rift in space/time. In doing so, she destroyed herself but was able to get Wesley into The Realm via the mysterious Schism. The Star Child used her power to save Wesley's life and as a show of gratitude, he willingly joined her Guard.

He was the head of the Research Division but primarily took over the responsibility of the Hall of Memories. Not long after seeing the entirety of Artz's life, Wesley began to have dreams, two voices constantly calling out to him but every time he had this dream, the voices were getting quieter. He sought out the Star Child because he honestly didn't know what to make of this odd phenomenon.

Artz used her power to both sense and see his connections to others and discovered the identities of the two people calling out to him, Fred and Illyria. The Star Child wasted no time and immediately took off for the Schism. It was difficult to traverse even a fraction inside thr Schism, but she was able to locate the remnants of the two women. It took a great deal of strength and effort to reform their souls while within the Schism, ensuring that not a single trace of their souls were missing.

Once free of the Schism, Her Ladyship was able to reconstitute their physical form but she had been too weak at the time so they both ended up within the same body. Both Illyria and Fred agreed that this debt had to be repaid so they joined the Blood Guard. In doing so, Illyria's temporal powers heightened to the point where she could see the entirety of the Present all at once, but did not cause any harm to her human host.

Illyria agreed to become the Third Oracle of the Time Keepers but was predominantly dormant by her own choice. This was due to the discovery of Wesley and his miraculous recovery. The ancient one hid within in Fred for sometime, not wanting to come in between him and her host. She did not wish to destroy his happiness again...but he surprised her.

Wesley had been consistently questioning both Fred and the Star Child about Illyria. He wanted to know what happened her, he was extremely worried about her given that the last time he had seen her was when he was dying in her arms. He admitted to them that he genuinely cared for the ancient one, despite their rather volatile history.

He hadn't meant to and it was in his final moments in the other world that he realized that he had fallen in love with Illyria. His love for Fred was still as intense as ever, but it did not change how he felt for the ancient one. He begged Her Ladyship to find any information about Illyria's whereabouts or at least what became of her.

The Star Child had simply pointed behind him and said 'Why don't you ask herself?' The former watcher whirled around to see that Fred was now in the form of the temporal goddess and Artz told him that she had saved both, but didn't have enough strength to give them separate bodies.

To be honest, he had kind of stopped listening to the redhead, all of his attention focused on the woman that he had once called a Smurf. It took a moment for them to actually converse...and he actually yelled at her, saying he had been worrying out of his mind about her and asking why she didn't reveal herself to him sooner.

Illyria simply stated that she had destroyed him once by killing Fred and taking over her body. She did not wish to impede his relationship with her host. His response to this was to kiss her and that's when she felt it...an ancient bond from long ago, the bond she had once shared with a human. When this human had died, much of her true self died with him.

It was other humans that had killed him, simply because he had chosen to befriend her, to serve her willingly, to love her in a way she had never before known. That kiss was all it took to make her realize that this man that was so adamantly and fiercely embracing her was the reincarnation of the human she had once loved.

Now imagine Wesley's surprise and shock when she used her super strength to shove him against the closest wall and actually made love to him...rather publicly but neither of them noticed. Once they were in a more private setting, Illyria revealed what she had discovered and the reason he had been drawn to Fred was because she was her mortal reincarnation.

A vast majority of her soul had gone with her former lover, leaving her ancient essence behind so that she could share the next life with him as a mortal, but when the Star Child saved them, their souls were on very different wavelengths which made it impossible to merge them back together.

When the former watcher started laughing, both the ancient one and her human counterpart were incredibly confused and were wondering what so funny about this situation. He simply kissed Illyria again and said 'I fell in love with the same woman twice.' This actually made the ancient one smile, a small one given that she was still adjusting to the situation, and for once in a very long time, she was genuinely happy.

Ironically, only Wesley seemed to be able to fully interpret Illyria's disjointed sentences and vague descriptions when she was actively using her power to see the entirety of the Present of everything a t once. This unusual ability of his was explained later by The Librarian, Flynn Carson. By embracing both Illyria and Fred, accepting them both, it solidified the ancient bond they once shared and all the powers and abilities that came along with it.

Wesley was the reason why Illyria could see the Present all at once and not be overwhelmed by the insurmountable information flowing into her mind. She saw it, Fred acted as a bridge and sent it to Wesley and he translated it. All this was done automatically, no conscious thought required which helped the Guard immensely and saved their asses so many times that they actually lost count.

Still...little is actually known about Illyria's past, not just in this story but in the TV series as well. I always wondered why Illyria was so against humanity and basically an emo Smurf. Losing someone she cared, a human that was so incredibly unique, it kind of broke her. Desperate to stay with him but could not because of what she was...her soul splitting apart is definitely within the realm possibilities.

It's only when she takes over Fred, her human incarnation, that she becomes overwhelmed by the surge of emotions. Her constant contact with Wesley helps her to stabilize but the two halves of her soul had become so different from one another that she loses the ability to contain and control her power, thus the reason why it had to be siphoned out of her to maintain her physical form.

Once that power was gone, she was left with the fragments of two incomplete souls which is why she was always so volatile. Losing Wesley...holding him in her arms as he was dying...both Illyria and Fred synchronized, their love of Wesley granted them the power necessary to open a rift to the Realm.

I will be adding more to these characters at a later date due to the fact that I have yet to fully flush out the sequence of events, so some of this might change and if so, I will publish an updated post.

Next up will be the profiles for the Magi of Light and the Magi of Flame. The Magi of the Air is still giving me a few hiccups which is why I'm posting the other two first.

Kazuma: It's only because she can't find a decent name for me.

Me: Dude! You're ruining the reveal!

Kazuma: *shrugs and gives her a bored look* It's not like anyone is actually gonna be able to recognize me anyways.

Me: *frowns* Fair point considering that it had only one season on TV, but there is a lot of written stuff for it.

Kazuma: How long are you planning to stare blankly at the screen of your phone?

Me: *gives him a tired glare* So sue me for spacing out, I'm exhausted.

Kazuma: So go to bed.

Me: Can't...work.

Kazuma: Sucks to be you then. *walks away while waving* Seeya!

Me: *deadpans* Why did I make him the Third Mage again?

Artz: *clears throat and points to a specific GIF*

Me: Oooooooh....still a jerk though. *wanders off, not noticing Artz and Kazuma doing a high five*
